How is a copy of a QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company file created?

 

RESOLUTION

 

Creating a copy of a QBDT company file can be useful for testing with Rightworks Transaction Pro Importer, Exporter, or Deleter. 

 

To create a copy of a QBDT company file:

 

  • Choose FILE > OPEN OR RESTORE COMPANY > OPEN A COMPANY FILE
  • In the OPEN A COMPANY dialog, right click a company file and choose COPY. Then right click again in an empty area and choose PASTE.
  • Click OPEN to open this new company file.
  • Rename the company file to add TEST to the name to differentiate the company file from the original active company file. To rename the company file, choose COMPANY > COMPANY INFORMATION from the menu and change the company name.
