Microsoft Access Database is Required

RESOLUTION

The Microsoft Access Database 2010 must be installed in order to allow Rightworks Transaction Pro Importer to read Excel and Access files. Please follow the steps below to download and install the necessary file.

  • Download the Microsoft Database Engine.exe file HERE.
  • Determine which version of Microsoft Office is installed: 32 bit or 64 bit.
    • If unsure as to the version of Microsoft Office that is installed, please refer to this Microsoft Article about how to determine this information.

IF THE 32 BIT VERSION OF MICROSOFT OFFICE IS INSTALLED:

  • Click the downloaded file to install, following the install wizard's instructions and installing in the default location.
  • Verify that the file installed by checking the computer's Add or Remove Programs.
  • Relaunch Importer and attach an Excel file to import.

IF THE 64 BIT VERSION OF MICROSOFT OFFICE IS INSTALLED:

*Note: Windows 11 does not require the steps below even if the 64 bit version of office is installed. Please follow the 32 bit instructions)

  • Right click the downloaded file and create a shortcut on the desktop.
  • Right click on the shortcut on the desktop and select PROPERTIES.
  • Select the SHORTCUT tab.
  • Click at the end of the TARGET address and add:
    • For Windows versions prior to Windows 10, add /passive
    • For Windows 10, add /quiet
    • Be sure to leave a space before the forward slash

  • Click APPLY and click OK.
  • Double click the updated shortcut icon and install the file, following the install wizard's instructions and installing in the default location.
  • Verify that the file installed by checking the computer's Add or Remove Programs.
  • Launch Importer and attach an Excel file to import.

If the error still occurs after installing the AccessDatabaseEngine.exe file, follow the steps below:

  • Go to the computer's Add or Remove Programs
  • Verify that the Microsoft Database Engine 2010 is installed.
  • If it is installed, select it and click REPAIR.
  • If it is not there, then reinstall following the instructions above according to which version of Microsoft Office that is installed.
  • If it is not the correct version installed (should be Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 32 bit version), uninstall the incorrect version and reinstall the correct version following the instructions above according to which version of Microsoft Office that is installed.
  • Verify that there is not more than one set of Microsoft Access Database Engine drivers installed at the same time.
    • If there is more than one set, remove until only one remains and verify that the one remaining is the correct version.
